It has been a busy (and thankfully snow free!) start to the year in terms of sporting fixtures with all children taking part over the course of the term with some excellent results. There have been over 250 fixtures in total this term which reflects our enduring aim to provide opportunities for all abilities whilst encouraging excellence. There have also been House Matches for Hockey and Netball.
At County Hockey level (Boys), our U11 team came 3rd and the 1st team (U13) won. As a result, they will go on to the South West finals next term. At the IAPS Regional Finals, the U13 team qualified for the National Finals which were held on 21st March where they went through to the quarter finals – a fantastic achievement. This tops a superb season which sees them unbeaten in their regular 11-a-side fixtures. The Senior boys have also taken part in 4 high profile Rugby 7’s tournaments.
For the girls, it has been a great term of Netball with fixtures, tournaments and festivals galore across the age range with, again, some very good results. A large number of girls also took part in two visits to watch Team Bath play – an inspiring experience by all accounts!
This term has also seen some great individual achievements. In Rugby, Tom Hunt has been selected for the England Prep Schools Under 11 side. In Hockey, Mike Stride, Will Brand-Lyons, George Cotterell and Miles Hackett have all been selected for the Somerset U14 Hockey Squad.
Our Year 7 girls and boys competed well in the South West Cross Country Championships with Lucy Baldwin, Cordelia Sheridan, Daisy and Lucy Mant and Sam Graham all representing the South West. Lucy Baldwin became the South West Champion.
George Ley-Morgan, Henry Brand-Lyons and Joe Wooler took part in a large Judo competition with competitors from 9 Eudo Clubs across the region. Each of the boys competed in a different category with George and Joe winning the silver medal and Henry, the gold.
Alvaro Garcia was the Intermediate Gold Medal winner at the Christey-Clover Golf Academy Tournament in March, at which Miles Hackett also came 6th in the Advanced category. At a joint parent/child Tournament at the same Academy, Mike and Arabella Burns won the Silver Medal whilst Alistair and Harry Corden-Lloyd won the Gold Medal. Well done to all!
