Mud, grit and determination

The Boys’ rugby continues to develop at a good pace with a real emphasis on skill development. The Under 10’s have shown real promise competing well in a National event, whilst all the other teams have shown real progress, and have put in some outstanding performances, competing in tough matches against neighbouring schools. We just need them to eat more pasta and pies to compete in size! The new coaching programme has paid real dividends in terms of creating genuine depth. Progression, passion and the joys of being part of a team have been experienced across the board as a result. Offering Rugby to Year 2 children by way of an introduction on some Saturdays has also created opportunity. Representatively this year we have had two boys chosen for the Somerset Prep School side and one boy in both the Under 11 and Under 13 Prep School Barbarians teams to play against the other regions.

Jolly Hockey Sticks– Tournaents, Tournaments, Tournamen

The year has started well with some great team performances. The Under 13A team have impressed, winning the All Hallows Tournament, the Bryanston Tournament Plate and making it to the Semi Finals of the Canford Tournament. They were also runners-up at the Somerset County Hockey Tournament, qualifying for the Regionals. The U13B team were runners-up at the Hazlegrove Tournament and Semi Finalists at the County Hockey (meeting our U13As in the Semi Final!). The U13C team (unbeaten all season) won both the U13B Royal High Tournament and the U13C Hazlegrove Tournament. The U12A team qualified for the Nationals where they then came 4th – a fantastic achievement. The U12B team won the Royal High Tournament and the U11A team came 3rd in the County Hockey, narrowly missing out on the Nationals and not losing a match.

The other girls’ teams all have had impressive wins against our local schools, competing well with all the larger schools.

We have also had 5 girls chosen for the County Netball squad as well as four who are part of the JRPC Somerset Hockey Development Programme.
