Saturday Enrichment – Rock and Roll and cameras roll…
1st Dec 2011

The children in Year 7 have been following one of two modules this term as part of the Saturday Enrichment Programme. One group have been literally raising the roof with professional musicians Dominic Greensmith and Amy Newton working on music production. The children have composed, rehearsed and will record a song. Along the lines of the cult TV show ‘The Choir’, no previous music experience was required – yet the results the children have come up with are fantastic. Watch this space for the performance open house date! Dominic and Amy are themselves very busy in the studio currently recording new material so we are very fortunate to have so much of their time to really give the children a taste of life as recording artists!

Meanwhile, the children following the Photography module have had a great term getting to grips with many aspects of photography with Mr Lucas and Mr Green. The group has been investigating (and practising) how a simple two dimensional sheet can radiate various emotions, beautiful colour, dramatic contrast, ‘depth of field’ and a ‘path’ for the viewer’s eye. All achieved via the technical skills gleaned via a camera, a lens, and an interesting piece of software called Photoshop! There will be a chance to view their work in the New Year.
